Vagabond

I love Saturdays. I love that you can roll out of bed whenever your heart desires and do whatever you want with no prior commitments. It's just so freeing and restorative, especially after a long work week. After going to Haiti and getting right back into my normal work routine (I work at a daycare, so naturally it'll wear you out real quick) I was utterly exhausted. So I decided to take it easy this Saturday, filling my day with sleep, The Wedding Planner, and Easter dress shopping. I got this teal dress from Forever 21, I thought it was simple but flattering and you can wear it almost anyway you want, dressing it up or down. All you need are some good accessories. Shortly after returning home, I was feeling creative so I decided to take some out of the norm self-portraits. I'm obsessed with anything vintage so I decided  to do a somewhat vintage theme using my globe and some old books as props. I probably stepped/sat in all sorts of dog poo while taking these photos, but I think it was worth it for the turn out. Here's my favorite photo from the sesh, what do ya think?

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous end to your weekend!

Summer Skin

Hello my friends! I know I've been a complete slacker when it comes to blogging lately, but with good reason, I went to Haiti for a week (from Tuesday to Tuesday). I'm going to go ahead and be cliche by saying that I had a life changing experience. It's insane how much one can learn in only a week. It's also pretty crazy that even while in Haiti, there's a chance to be stylish. I've had a growing obsession with headscarves that has heightened while in Haiti. One of my good friends on the trip proved to me that you can still look good while doing good. She really knew how to work the headscarves and wore a different, fabulous one every day. She also got given a baby.. but that's another story. So here is my take on this trend that is oh so perfect for this coming summer.

I was rummaging through my sister's things and found this beautiful silk scarf that she never wears, so only wanting to give it the attention it deserves, I stole it (can you blame me?). The wonderful thing about headscarves is that you can spice up any outfit with their bold colors or even hide a bad hair day.

My grandma gave me this scarf a while ago and I only recently realized the treasure that it is. By adding gold jewelery, it really accentuates the gold in the scarf. I'm also obsessed with these retro looking sunglasses which replaced my old sunnies that I sadly broke in Haiti (RIP).

You can literally wear your hair any style with headscarves and it looks great. I love to do messy buns or long braids, the possibilities are endless. Scarves with a floral pattern are perfect for summery weather and brighten up a look.

I also stole this scarf from my sister because it too needed a good home. You can't tell in this photo, but it has little blue birds all over it and by wearing this solid blue shirt, it really accentuates the blue in the scarf. I just got these white pants which I'm so thrilled about. I've been wanting white pants for years but it's quite difficult to find a good fitting pair, they can either look really good or really atrocious.

  1. You can take any old scarf and wear it on your head instead of your neck. I love this floral printed one.
  2. This silk scarf welcomes Spring with its bold and bright colors.
  3. I love that this scarf is somewhat mermaidish, I can just pretend I live on the beach.
  4. You can see above that I'm wearing this nail polish. Coral is my favorite color for the Spring.
  5. Yet another light scarf, perfect for those long sunny days.
  6. Don't just stop at coral nail polish, coral lipstick is necessary as well. I'm wearing this lipstick above.
  7. I put this scarf in my last post but felt it necessary to repost. In fact, I love it so much, it should be arriving on my door step any day.
Have a beautiful day!

Wildflower

Happy March! Its been sunny and warm here in Colorado and I hope its not merely deceiving me into thinking that Spring is approaching. Somehow, life is just a little sweeter when you've soaked up that vitamin D. Last week, I went to Salt Lake (no we're not Mormon) to visit my sister and of course it was completely necessary to do some shopping. The entire time we were browsing, I kept being drawn to two things: floral and cropped shirts. I'm loving the fact that crops are making a come back, its like welcoming back a long lost friend. And floral? Absolutely timeless. I literally can't own enough floral in my life, its so feminine and fun. While browsing the world wide web, I found that Free People is just as obsessed as I am with both of these styles. My addiction clearly won't cease anytime soon.

More to aid the Spring fever:
  1. Even if you haven't showered for days, straw fedoras make you instantly glam.
  2. This old fashioned looking floral bikini is reversible and unfortunately out of my price range.
  3. The last time I wore ankle socks was probably when I was 5, but these ones are too cute to resist.
  4. I love the variety of ways you can wear cropped shirts.
  5. This top is floral perfection, the bright colors are tantalizing.
  6. Mint is my FAVORITE nail polish color, I couldn't wait to bust it out again for Spring.
  7. I'm also entirely obsessed with head scarves, I need this one ASAP.

NavaJO

You have to give me props for my clever titles, even if they are a bit cheesy. But, as Spring is approaching (hopefully sooner than later), I've been loving looks that are Native American inspired. Clearly, I took the idea and ran with it, subjecting my best friend Katie to some ridiculous face painting (she loved it). Achieving this look is rather simple, all you really need are feathers, leather, anything turquoise or shades of brown, etc. You can't blame us for wanting to look like Pocahontas, who doesn't? And let's be honest, I definitely had a crush on cartoon John Smith.

  1. Fringes are the perfect ingredient for this look. These ankle boots do the trick.
  2. Like I said, add some feathers and you're good to go.
  3. Turquoise, turquoise, turquoise.
  4. Layered necklaces in turquoise and gold add glamour.
  5. I really want a leather satchel like this one.
  6. I love these Native American inspired shirts, you can find them all over these days and I couldn't be happier about it.
  7. Duh, moccasins. Need I explain more?

Inspiration from An Education

After receiving my free month trial on Netflix, I instantly chose to watch An Education after longing to see it for quite some time. Consequently, I not only adored the movie, but the fashion as well! The 1960's were so chic and full of class. So here's a bit of inspiration from the movie that has been consuming my day dreams ever since. Fortunately, Anthropologie provides any dress a girl could hope for to become as glamorous as Carey Mulligan. Now all I need is the English accent..

I adore all of these dresses from Anthropologie and you should as well. They depict the 60's perfectly. I believe bold prints and colors do the trick. And of course floral (it's just timeless)!

Let's not forget the details..
  1. I'm dying to get my hands on a film camera!
  2. A leather briefcase/satchel isn't just professional for an Oxford student, but also extremely fashionable for the rest of us
  3. Plaid? Yes, please. Sophistication meets school girl
  4. Oxfords are some of the classiest shoes, thank God they're back in style. (Great for guys and gals)
  5. Don't be scared, break out that red lipstick without any shame! My favorite is Red Revival by Maybelline
  6. Silky scarves are chic and fun in pretty floral prints, perfect for the spring
  7. Don't you dare forget your cat eye glasses to bring this look to its entirety! (J. Crew, I love you)
